"Do it, feel it, and understand it."
Welcome to a seminar that will change the way you look at sitting!
In the morning session you will be guided, in an interactive way, to feel, analyze, and understand why we sit the way we do. The core of our discussion is to make you more aware of what is happening in your body when you sit and why you change your position so often.
The afternoon session is for wheelchair users visiting us. Together with wheelchair users we analyze, discuss, and come to conclusions on what to do. We dig deep into the analyzing of quality and design of seating systems, like measures, softness, contours, and angles, to discover how different features directly and indirectly influence the entire body.
The goal is to better understand what to do and where to begin when adapting or designing seating systems for people who sit on a long-term basis. Explanations and demonstrations are made simple and understandable. The more basic principles you know, the more advanced you can be with setting up power and manual wheelchairs.
This program meets criteria for certification and is granted 0.65 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for attendance at 6.5 hours of education.
The one-day seminar will run from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM. Breakfast, morning and afternoon snacks, and warm lunch will be provided, as well as cocktails after the event.
